In the July 2010 Genii Magazine, the "When Thurston Came To Town" DVD
got a full-page review.
"The
material is really quite wonderful. An unabashed homage to a
one-of-a-kind entertainer, a man who was an enormous star in his
prime, which lasted several decades. Standing out among all this
captivating material are the film clips of Thurston. The entire
package - a six panel sleeve with a slipcase and 32-page biography of
Thurston - is beautifully produced.”

Over the last four days I spent time with the family of Howard
Thurston's long time manager Jack Jones. Jack Jones was not only
Thurston's manager but worked on the Thurston Show as well (which is where
Jack Jones met his wife -- she was one of Thurston's assistants).
Cathy and Betty were such great hosts and I had the most incredible
time with them. I learned a lot about Jack Jones and heard stories
Jack shared with Cathy and Betty.
I was honored to be chosen to acquire the amazing Jack Jones
Collection.
Stay tuned for a feature article on Jack Jones!

This book by William V.
Rauscher is the story of Edd Patterson, The Magic Artist. During his
career his programs were endorsed by literally thousands of school
administrators and parent teacher groups in the eastern United States. He
probably presented live school stage shows for more young people than any
other performer of his time on the American assembly platform. With a
record of more than 18,000 shows, he was considered an entertainer with an
educator's point of view. His presentations won the unqualified approval
of young audiences from Connecticut to Florida (and their teachers,
administrators, moms and dads, too). Edd Patterson is now retired. This
book brings him alive to a new generation Apart from his life story, the
book includes 33 of his time- tested routines for children's shows along
with ideas and thoughts from his life as a master school show performer.
Rory Feldman, creator of
ThurstonMasterMagician.comand creator and founder of the Museum of Magic
worked on this project, creating the cover of the book and the entire DVD
that comes along with the book!

Rory Feldman
Executive Director, Museum of Magic
Rory,
I am very excited about the prospect of the Museum of Magic being
located in Brooklyn, a very natural place for it to be. During
its 106 year, the Society of American Magicians (founded in NYC) has
had many ties with our borough, Many great magicians had their homes
here and Coney Island was the mecca of magic with stars such as
Harry Houdini, Jean Hugard, Al Flosso, Sam Marglies and Dai Vernon
among others having performed there. The Brookyn Academy of Music was
the venue for some our great shows and Hardeen, Hugard, Dr. Hooker and
others chose to live in Brooklyn .
If I can help this wonderful project in any way, please let me
know. I hope that your museum will bring tourists to our rich and
cultural borough. I am proud to be a resident.
George Schindler
